Its 4:30am and I'm about to tuck in for the night. Should get a few hours of sleep before my 8am class. Blech.
Update on Productivity Rate: I'm happy to say that my productivity has sky-rocketed ever since uninstalling aim. Within mere hours of ridding myself of that wretched time-bandit, I was able to find new and more rewarding things to do. I believe my addiction is broken. Unforunetely, now I do not have an effective way of communicating with my Pirate Lady when she's on her laptop in the library. Perhaps I will have to reinstall it soon, but use it exclusively for that purpose.
Update on Academics: I've been writing my linguistics paper, "History and Influence of the Ancient Greek Writing System" for a few hours and I have a page of somewhat dense material already done. It needs to be about five pages in length, which I think is rather short for a 300 level linguistics course, but I'm not about to tell that to the professor. Its not due until wednesday afternoon, but I also have a discrete math quiz wednesday morning. I absolutely must hurt this quiz badly. So far I'm in the B+/A- range for the class. I need that A to finish up my degree in a strong fashion. This would all be well and good if I had time to study for the quiz. Unfortunetely, I had an e-commerce internet programming assignment due sunday night which, along with searching for food and digging out my car, has taken up most of my time for about four days. To add to that, there's some hour and a half long TA review session being held tuesday afternoon which I probably shouldn't miss. Oi. It doesn't matter; I'm going to destroy that quiz. Must try to sleep now.
Update on Costa: He still sucks.
Update on Jill: She does too.
So I finally had my research meeting with the head of the Comp Sci Department. I had signed up to do research with a professor
last september ('02) and basically I've gotten blow off for a year. Its more complicated than that, but not worth getting into. So the head of the dept. speaks with the professor, who tells him that he was under the impression that I didn't want to do any research. wtf. So basically, its a blatent lie to save face.
Another professor of mine emailed me with a job opportunity porting software to J2ME, so it all balances out.
Today was one of the most uneventful days I've had lately. Having stayed up till 5:30am, coding and chatting with
Harlan online, I awoke at 8am with a horrible pain in my left shoulder. Lying on my side, the pain was so agonizing that I couldn't even turn myself onto my back. Marina was in my room and I called out to her. She had to actually come over and help me move onto my back. Once I was lying on my back, I found it impossible to sit up or even move for that matter. I eventually fell back asleep and Marina left for class. I awoke again at 3pm. I had missed my discrete math class which is no big loss. I had also missed the opportunity to take place in a Campus Residence Hall opinions forum discussion which was going to pay me $20 for an hour of my harsh criticism. The timeline went something like: 3pm-wake, watch tv in bed while shoulder recovered 4pm- pick up marina, futz around on computer 5pm-get early dinner and the first meal of the day, do a little homework, 8pm- go to waldbaums for soda and snacks, then get another dinner, come back, do some homework (but not much).
Every few weeks, Marina and I go to waldbaums and pick up a few cases of soda. Its getting to be about that time, so I think we'll head over there tonight. Then we'll go back to her place to watch the video game awards. I'm curious to see how they run an awards show for video games. Then I'll work on the extra credit assignment for Cse 336.
I'm learning how to write XSLT style sheets to convert xml to html, with JSPs and servlets. I'm going to also convert to XSL-FO and generate pdf's from that. I don't know how to do any of this at this particular point in time, but I will know how within a few hours.
